Catchpenny Parties!

Catchpenny Parties are a great way to have a whole bunch of fun with people with little money! The goal is simply to buy cheap CATCHPENNIES and give them to one another. A catchpenny is “a cheap item” or something that is “designed and made to sell without concern for quality; cheap.”

The idea is that everyone has to set a maximum price; we here in Critterville typically go for about a dollar or two (try 50 cents for a real challenge!). That maximum is the absolute most that you can spend on each person! Go out, shop at thrift stores, quarter machines, anywhere and everywhere and find something unique but cheap for each person.

Once the “party” begins, start with one person and let them give out all the gifts they gave. Go through each person until all the gifts are given, then laugh your buttocks off!

You can do this outside of parties as well, try...

• … at lunch at school or at work to see how well you know each other.
• … reuniting with some friends you haven't seen in a while to learn about how their tastes have changed
• … at a birthday party – they're like stocking stuffers for a birthday!
